语言与社会互构研究新范式

摘要：胡范铸教授新著《社会发展语言学》包含了著者近年来对于中国社会语言学研究目标、问题、方法的一系列反思和探索。该书构建以目标为导向的社会语言学研究范式，即以语言研究为路径，以有效推进个体的发展、群体的发展、国家的发展、全球的发展为目标。作者从“何为语言学”的讨论开始，基于语言学知识体系的重新认识，提出何为“语言制度”，作为人权组成部分的语言权利如何在社会制度中获得恰当的安排？何为“语言能力”，不同主体语言能力如何获得、发展及保持？何为“语言治理”，语言治理的基本原则是什么？何为“社会称谓”，社会称谓如何被社会建构并同时建构出怎样的中国社会？何为“语言景观”，作为当代语言景观典型样本的“流行语”如何认识？……一系列问题。该书论述了社会语言学内在联系的重要表现是不同的假定会形成不同的社会语言学研究命题、目标和方法，明确了以“目标－问题－方法”三者统一为社会发展语言学基本研究方法。

Title: A New Paradigm for the Research on the Mutual Construction of Language and Society: A Review of Hu Fanzhu’s Societal Development Linguistics
Abstract: Professor Hu Fanzhu’s new book Social Developmental Linguistics summarizes his reflections and academic explorations on the research objectives, research issues and research methods of sociolinguistics in China in recent years. The book constructs a goal-oriented sociolinguistic research paradigm, which takes linguistic research as the path and aims to effectively promote the development of individuals, groups, the nation and the global community.Starting with the proposition of “what is linguistics”, the author renews the understanding of linguistics as a knowledge system and raises a series of fundamental academic questions: What is language institution? How should language rights, as an essential component of human rights, be properly arranged within the social institutional system? What is language competence? How can different subjects acquire, develop and sustain their language competence? What is language governance? What are the basic principles of language governance? What are social appellations? How are social appellations socially constructed, and what form of Chinese society do they reconstruct in return? What is linguistic landscape? How should buzzwords, as a typical representation of contemporary linguistic landscape, be interpreted? This paper elaborates that the internal logical correlation of sociolinguistics is prominently reflected in the fact that different theoretical assumptions generate different research propositions, objectives and methods. It further defines the integration of goal-problem-method as the fundamental research methodology of social developmental linguistics.
