The 8th High-Level Forum on Language Services & Forum on Language Life and Language Service Development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area
On November 22, 2023, the 8th High-Level Forum on Language Services &
Forum on Language Life and Language Service Development in the Guangdong-Hong
Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was held at Guangzhou University under the theme Exploring New Language Services in the Digital-Intelligent Era.Co-hosted by Guangzhou University and the Institute of Applied
Linguistics (Ministry of Education), the forum brought together more than 90
experts from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao.The opening ceremony included
a certificate awarding ceremony for members of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao
Greater Bay Area Language Life and Language Service Construction Alliance,
further consolidating the collaborative efforts of government, industry, academia,
research, and application to deepen regional language service synergy. The
forum featured six keynote reports focusing on cutting-edge topics such as the
application of large language models, language service practices in Hong Kong,
the construction of a theoretical system for language services, challenges of
digital and intelligent transformation, technology-enhanced Chinese language
teaching, and the
“five-in-one” layout of language services. The conference also included
four thematic sub-forums for exchanging ideas on theoretical innovation in
Chinese language services, the construction of the National Language Resource
Service Platform, language services in fields like emergency response and
multimodality, and the urban language life of the Greater Bay Area. The event
systematically explored the theoretical construction, technological
application, and talent cultivation pathways for language services in the
context of digital intelligence, providing academic support and practical
solutions for the high-quality development of language services in the new era.
